Firstly I'd like to apologize for any spelling or grammatical errors.
My name is Eriol Stephens, and although that is not the name given to me at birth it is an important piece of myself because it is how people have come to identify me. Much like names gender markers are also important to people when it comes to labeling. I must commend the government for recognizing that there is in fact a difference between birth assigned sex and gender and that there are ways for people who do in fact associate with one more than another. I must disagree with the law of people having to conform to gender stereotypes that match their specific marker; even if it doesn't match how they identify. I think this is rude and somewhat insensitive to those peoples (and myself) feelings.
I also believe that the two available genders one may choose from are insufficient. Many other countries have a third marker for no binary individuals; and I think Canada as the large and proud country it is should follow suit since I believe it's a tad behind when it comes to the affairs of TRANS* and Non-binary peoples, which are many in this country. While there are steps being taken, they seem to be going at more of a slow crawl then the actual movement that needs to be taken to get to the next step.
Thank you very much

A little bit preachy, I guess
Yes, I am pansexual.
Not because I want to follow a trend.
Not because I'm euphemizing "bisexual".
Bisexual is just loving men and women.
I love for who the person is whether they are
Man, Woman, Trans, Intersex...
But I suppose panamorous is a better term. Alas, we are talking sexuality.
So why the anger over the term?
I'm sorry, but if you have a problem that I'm using pansexual over "bisexual" then I think you have serious issues.
Let me define me.

Transgender is ...
Being transgender is not something that is easily influenced.
It's not because of the toys you were given as a child, you already know if they're the right toys for you or not.
It's not because of the friends you hang out with, you already know who you identify with.
It's has nothing to do with a lack of a certain parental figure(just like boys of a single mother can still be straight).
It's not because of how your parents raised you, you already know if what they're doing makes sense.
It has nothing to do with not being taught how to be a man or a woman, I was taught to be a man, and that surely made me grow up to be one. I still wor

This is a copy of the actual letter I sent off to the prime minister of canada, a country to which I reside. I highly doubt I'm going to get any response from this but I hope that I might inspire others to contact this govenment with similar inquiries, points, ect. While lots of people think of this country as great (and I don't want to belittle it at all) there are still some things that need to be done.

oh, and if you wern't sure what I was talking about with the passport thing. In Canada Stephen Harper (the current prime minister) Passed a law stating that people who do not present as the gender/ sex depicted in their passport are not allowed to board airplanes. This is also disregarding the existance of non-binary or gender non conforming folks.
"Sec 5.2(1)(c) of the ID screening regs of Aeronautics Act: “An air carrier shall not transport a passenger if the passenger does not appear to be of the gender indicated on the identification he or she presents.”

I think maybe you should have been more specific in your letter so that they knew you were talking about the passport thing. But it's a commendable effort, and well done for doing something where many others would have just not bothered.
